Collection Interests

The collection of the saai consists mainly of estates and is so far mainly monographic. Our view of the holdings and the increasing interest in thematic issues show that a thematic search option is becoming increasingly important. In a cross-collection, interdisciplinary and international reading, the following collection focuses can be identified, for which office-related or personal estates often provide the basis:
- “Representative buildings” of the young Federal Republic
- Architectural theory and architectural education (collection of travel diaries and sketchbooks)
- Women in architecture
- School building (Behnisch & Partner, Günter Wilhelm, Maria Verena Gieselmann, Alfred Fischer, Institute for School Building at the Technical University of Stuttgart)
- Children's books / architectural toys / buildings for children
- Structures of collections and knowledge systems (within the holdings / in the archive)
- International Building
- Focus Karlsruhe (Weinbrenner, Hübsch, Durm, Mohl, Kramer, etc.)
- Lightweight construction
- Landscape architecture (Luz, etc.)
